We're closed in observance of Veterans Day.

To those in uniform serving today and to those who served in the past, we honor you today and every day.

The origins of Veterans Day lie in the events surrounding the end of World War I. World War I was fought as "the war to end all wars" and 11 AM on the eleventh day of the eleventh month of 1918 was marked as the moment war would cease forever. Known originally as Armistice Day, November 11 commemorated those who had died in the war and the end of armed conflict. It was first celebrated in 1919 by many of the allied nations of the First World War, including the United States, and by 1926 27 states recognized the holiday, although it had not yet been adopted federally.

Of course, it was only 21 years after the end of World War I that World War II began. Following the end of that war, most countries began referring to the day as Veterans Day, expanding its focus beyond World War I. In the United States, it became known as Veterans Day in 1954. In most other countries, it is a day set aside to remember those who have died in action. In the United States, however, the day recognizes all veterans and the service they have rendered to our country.
