About this Event
Ed Ricketts, author and teacher of this Broker Management Clinic says brokers know little about case law because it is very sketchily covered, if at all in a typical continuing education class. Ed's idea is to start brokers on a path to understanding the whole law, not simply the statutes and rules.
The implications of designated broker supervision are profoundly based on the reality of ADRE disciplinary actions and civil litigation filed against the brokerage and its agents. Case law highlights the red flags of real estate practice. This review of actual civil litigation cases that resulted in case law will assist the designated broker in better supervising the brokerage's regulatory compliance imperatives. Case law has the same effect on brokerage practice as do statutes and rules.
Case law is a huge determinant of broker supervision. But do you rely only on the real estate statutes and rules for compliance with the law? ADRE may not drag you in for a violation, but that has little to do with a civil lawsuit.
